W.A.A.R on Monday

Last week, like most weeks, lots of things happened. Stay safe with some knowledge you might have missed.

Trijicon VCOG: The 1-8x LPVO for the Marines

The Marines have chosen a Variable optic for use. Doesn’t surprise me (or probably anyone else) that they went for a Trijicon. They have been using the ACOG since I was in over 10 years ago.

Gun Mag Warehouse has a ton of information about the optic if you are interested. I might be interested in this optic. I like the idea of a variable I just need to get one to play with. This one is well out of my price range MSRP of $2,800.

Teen Assaulted by Hospital Security Guard and Sheriff’s Deputy

There is so much crap happening here. Start by watching it without audio and then see what you think. Things are not as they seem. But it should be noted how far down this went down hill.

I’d like to point out the heroism and guts of the officer at the end that pulls one officer away from the mother in the story. He has to pull the enraged officer away and to the ground to make sure that nothing was done wrong by an officer that was cleared upset. We need more officers like this to step in and help fellow officers out as well as help the citizens of their community not become a victim of another officers bad decision.

There are so many things we don’t know in the story. I wish there had been audio. The security guard that tackles the kid says the kid threatened to get a gun and kill everyone. And this is not just any hospital visit but a kid with mental problems that is off his meds. Lots of unknowns here.

The follow up video doesn’t really help besides say that the police officer that struck the kid while handcuffed is no longer an officer.

This hits home because my son has some mental issues. The part in the video that gets me is that now this mother won’t take her kid to get help anymore because she is afraid he will get hurt worse.

Looks like the physical battle was won, but the war might be lost for this kid. I don’t know what the correct actions should have been here, but I do know that everyone involved lost…

Date Night Restaurant Robbery

Two off duty police officers are out on a date when someone tries to rob the restaurant they are eating at. It went about like you would expect for the robber.

But Greg Ellifritz goes through a lot of things that you might want to think about if you where in their shoes. It’s not ever just cut and dried. Yes this worked for them this time, but it doesn’t always work out.
