Today: Are you improving your position despite being behind? It’s easy to get overwhelmed and want to sit down and do nothing. No matter how much you do there is always more. You will never get it done as fast as you want.
Information, even in the information age, is still not in the correct context, doesn’t always apply to you, is unreliable, and is always behind at least a couple hours if not a couple days to a week. I did a post called Behind the Times with the Covid-19 Virus that outlines our current information problems.
Now what can you do about it? Not much. The best thing you can do is move forward. Most of the improvements to my self defense and preparedness should have been done weeks to months, and in one case years ago.
We are all in the defense right now. We are stuck at home. You can’t go out and do much. In the Marine Corps when you can’t move during combat, that means you are in the defense. And in the defense, you set priorities and do work. The work never stops. You are always improving your position.
Even if you do something you should have done a week ago, you still did it. Even if you keep working on little things like that, eventually you will have a great defense. The military has always had an issue with being behind the times. They are always training for the last war and not the upcoming one. But they do pretty good.
The more skills, equipment, and fortifications you build now, the more you will have for the future. They may not be perfect, but they will be there. I read books from the Vietnam war that helped during my time in Iraq.
What you do now matters. And even if you feel behind, it gives you things for the future. Keep working. You can do it.
