Voting in Texas

What a pain!  I just finished voting today.  I wanted to vote by absentee so that I could have the internet available to read about all the smaller races going on.  It’s easy to know what presidential candidate to vote for, but the judge for District 9 is a little harder to figure out.  I missed my deadline for that, and I intended to go vote early so I wouldn’t have to stand in line and could get it over with.  I missed that date, too.

Today I made it! November 6, 2012, I voted.  I hope you did, too.  Unless you know where you are going and what you are doing, voting is a pain.  I didn’t know where to go vote.  So, I started with a Google search and ended up here.  At the top of the search is a box that says “Voter Information, enter your address…” Most things on the internet are that easy, but then I got a message that said “Sorry, we are unable to find…” go here, “Texas Sec of State, Elections Division.” So, of course, I followed the link and clicked on “Finding my Polling Place” where it asks for my driver’s license info.  I clicked on driver’s license info next and ended up on another page, where I put in my driver’s license number and date of birth (at least it was a secure site).

The next page gave me my address (thanks, couldn’t remember it even though it’s printed on my driver’s license) and then clicked the next link to get here (Bexar County Election Department).  In the mess of text on that page is a little link square in the middle of the text and doesn’t even look like a link.  The only reason I knew I was supposed to click on it was because the cursor changed as I moved over it.

Anyways, that link took me here, and it asked me for my address again.  Then I finally got the school name and address of where I had to go.  No map, so cut and paste that into my iPhone maps and found it, about three blocks from my house.  At least it was close.

I did my duty and voted.  Did you?

Did you have any problems trying to vote?  Share them below.

Stay Safe,

Ben
