Range Report: BCC Course, Dallas

March 2 found Bob Mayne and me in Dallas (actually Quail Creek Range in Argyle), TX to teach a Beyond Concealed Carry course.  The course was good, and the students where amazing!  The morning started out a little cold for March, but was livable.

Student brought all sorts of guns, Bob and I where shooting our normal Glock 19s.  Most of the guns on the line where M&P’s or XD’s in some form or fashion.  There were a couple Glocks, one HK, one Kimber 1911, and one Kahr.  All worked great with a couple malfunctions (most shooter related).

Students found it difficult to work their guns with their gloves and heavy coats on.  I encouraged them to leave whatever they where wearing on and work around the extra clothing because this was Dallas weather almost half the year and this is how they dress.  There was no push back only eager shooters ready to improve their abilities.

Bob and I gave the students a good laugh when we went to demonstrate the Tueller drill (21 foot rule) and both of us ran away from each other.  Luckily that didn’t get on film or camera.  But it was hilarious.

As the day progressed so did the skill of the students.  Everyone walked away with better gun handling skills then when they showed up.  At the end of the day we set up a bunch of crazy drills and had fun with a battlefield pickup drill that included a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle to shoot.
