Police Interaction

I went out last night with my normal dress of shorts and T-shirt. I stuck a small gun in my pocket. I checked to make sure I could get to the gun in an emergency and that it wouldn’t show when I moved around. I didn t think anything of it until I thought a cop was going to pull me over (he got the guy in front of me). I realized my driver’s license and concealed handgun license were in the same pocket as my gun. I don’t think a police officer would appreciate that kind of surprise.

When you carry a weapon for self-protection think about how you will interact with Police, what the local laws are, and how you will or will not notify a police officer that you are carrying a gun.  Cops don’t know you are the good guy and are actively looking for a bad guy. Your best bet is slow movements and lots of communication.

If I had been pulled over I would have told the Police Officer that I was legally carrying a gun, where it was, and that my licenses were in the same pocket. Then let him decide what he wants to do about it. Then done what I was instructed to do, very slowly.

Stay Safe,

Ben
