There are lots of Internet myths about what you should or can use for self defense. In this show we will talk about some of those myths and why it’s probably not a good idea.  Topics include:

Improvised Weapons

  • Anything Around
  • Weapons that create standoff are better
  • See the world differently
  • Used When there isn’t something better
    • Bat vs. Baton
    • Staff vs. Broom Handle

Planned Tools

  • Use Those for Self Defense
    • They work better
    • Have testing behind it
    • Designed to work better and in harsher conditions
    • Will only do the damage that it is designed to do
  • Planned Improvised Weapons
    • Places you can’t have weapons? Maybe?
    • May not work as well
    • May permanently disfigure, injure, or kill

Legal Issues

  • Before
    • Caught by the cops with the weapon
    • Treated as aforethought/planning to commit a crime
  • During
    • Seen as a higher use of force (Baton vs. Bat)
    • Looked at as the aggressor
  • After
    • Used against you planned to hurt someone
    • Mayhem or permanently disfigure someone
    • Now can be a federal crime

Get legal weapons that you can use for self defense, carry them, and know how to use them.
