Weekly After Action Report for things you may have missed last week.

Last week, like most weeks, lots of things happened. Stay safe with some knowledge you might have missed.

Self Defense Ammo Study for Pistol Caliber Carbines by Luck Gunner

Chris over at Lucky Gunner is putting bullets in gel again.

This time he compares a couple common 9mm self defense loads from a 4″ handgun, 12.5″ SBR 9mm, and a 16″ 9mm.

The results are mostly what I expected. But the Federal 147 gr HST did remarkably well. I might have to change from a 124 to 147 HST to make my standard load.

Always looking at ammo tests that are doing different things.

Even-though his test wasn’t quite apples to apples, it was close and you can use the data. Can you find the spot where his data isn’t perfect?

Still a great source, probably the best on the internet right now, for ballistic testing.

Art of Manliness Podcast: How to Become Indistractable

Check out the podcast interview with the author, or just go buy his book!

Nir Eyal’s book Indistractable: How to Control Your Attention and Choose Your Life is an incredible book. It made me think differently about being distracted.

You have to know what you are being distracted from. Distraction is the opposite of traction. If you are getting traction on something you are pushing forward with an idea, concept, project, job, or life. To be distracted you have to know what you are being distracted from.

It’s a different way to think about your attention, how you spend your attention, and how you spend your time. I listened to it on Audible three times already and am thinking about doing it again.

It’s a book everyone in our hectic world should read.

Yes I have a horribly distorted sense of humor, and somehow rubbed that off on my wife.

She took this picture and sent it to me. I thought it would be a great costume to wear… but not to our church’s Halloween party coming up. Maybe another time.

What do you think? Should I go trick-or-treating with my kid wearing it?

Modern Self Protection Last Week

I sat in the truck and explained some of the lessons I learned in combat in 2003 during the Iraqi Invasion when I was on the “tip of the spear” clearing Baghdad and racing north. These lessons apply to your self defense. Learn these things the easy without blood shed.

The Gun you Want v. The Gun you Get
Why gun companies don’t always make the gun shooters want. They make guns to sell, not always the guns people should have, or the ones you want.
