  • Could be fun (always wanted to stand in line one night just for the experience)
  • Crowds turn fast
  • Wouldn’t go anywhere you has to run to get deal

  • hands up
  • wall
  • groups together
  • Other groups

Mob Mentality

  • Hands up
  • move sideways to the flow
  • Moving along walls
    • faster
    • crush danger
  • keeping stuff close to body
  • moving with a group
  • other groups hanging out
  • look up to see where you are going
  • stay off your phone and pay attention
  • don’t drop things
  • move with a purpose
  • know your exits and where you are
  • be prepared to go where others won’t
  • don’t bother cops and security with stupid questions someone might actually need help
  • carry a way to break a window to get out

Know where you are going

  • mall layouts
  • Trick to get out of anywhere

 

Signs something may be wrong

  • not enough people working
  • Workers gone
  • crowd surges
  • someone does something wrong and people cheer
  • law enforcement build up
  • fires are started
  • cops give warning
    • be first out
    • cop trick drive crowd around until they bored and/tired
  • cops start using force

  2. I used to work Security at a major mall in Portland, OR. I could NOT stand the Christmas session. The parking lot was jammed with cars. The people are rude and mall is so commerical it makes me sick.

    I started my own tradition a couple of years ago. I visit local shops looking for gifts. It is more relaxing. You get to talk to the owners about everday things. And I’m supporting local business. It is a Win Win situation.
