New Glock Sites

Last weekend I was able to complete the work I did on my Glock M19.  I carry the Glock everyday, so I do as little work as possible to it.  I keep the work to a minimum for a couple reasons; first I don’t like spending money, second as a carry gun there are some liability issues that I may have already passed, but lastly I don’t want to re-train myself on anything new.

I couldn’t stand the sites anymore.  The front site is worn down to the point that it is starting to affect the site picture.  If it gets any shorter it would affect where the bullet’s impact.  There is nothing bad about the sites, the factory sites are made of plastic and mine has worn down from holster wear.  I’ve just practiced with the weapon too much for the sites to hold up.  To Glock’s defense, I have used this gun more then most guns will be used in two life times.  Under normal conditions the sites hold up fine.

I installed Warren Sevigny plain rear site and front night site.  The front site has a tritium dot and glows in the dark.  I’ve used the tritium front site and black rear on my tricked out .45 and love it.  So when I needed to replace my Glock sites I went with something I already knew and liked.  I’ve only shot the gun once with the new sites and loved it.  The front site is very thin making it easier for me to pick it up faster.  Both sites are taller then the original, and I like that also.  The draw back is the more the sites stick up, the more they will wear on holsters and the bigger opportunity for snagging on clothing and equipment when drawn.

These Warren sites are the best all around thing I could find.  They fit my style of fighting and use of the gun.  I’ve used the same set up in the past with great success, so I do not have to learn anything new.  I’ll give you a follow up in a couple weeks when I get to shoot the gun a couple more times and use it in a competition.

Here are some photos of the new sites and the old worn ones.

Stay Safe,

Ben
