W.A.A.R on Monday

Here is some of the things you may have missed last week and this weekend.

Why We Test our Gear

Test your gear.

Buy good gear and make sure you test it.

People love to say pepper spray is the end all be all. I hate the stuff because it doesn’t work so often.

Here’s someone that had it in her purse for self-defense and forgot about it. Which was probably better because it didn’t work.

Holding Classes in the Belly of the Beast

Put your money where your mouth is. If you think this virus is bull… get out there and prove it.

Rob Pincus got and and taught a class in the belly of the beast.

Glad to see him out there working it.

Is it time to go back to “normal” life?

I don’t know. But it is time to get back to work and making the economy go.

I went to the range last week and my wife went to the store for the first time in 2 months.

This is going to be a train wreck. We just don’t know how big yet.

Waiting and Worrying

Waiting to worry. That’s a hard one. Especially in today’s crisis.

But it seems more and more like we should have waited to worry. And will worring really get you anywhere?

I’ve decided that worry needs to have little place in my life. I prepare for crap to go wrong, do a risk assessment, and then go about my life.

My secret, which I don’t think our country can do, is I will change my mind when circumstances have changed. Yesterday decision A might have been correct but today decision B might be better because of new information and a changing world. Move and make that change and make yourself better.

Seth Godin talks about how sorry is worthless in his daily blog. It’s a good and timely read.

Book Suggestion of the Week:
The Mission the Men, and Me by Pete Blaber

Are you looking for a great book on leadership and business decision making to read?

This is the book for you. This simple read goes fast and says how to decide things right in the title. If you think of your mission first, then your men, and yourself last you can win at almost anything. Most of us put this backwords in our careers and lives.

It takes practice and work to put the mission first. Most of us fail at this because we fail to learn or create or missions for our lives and work.

What’s your mission in your family life? Your personal life? And for your career?

Mine are simple: Stay married, Raise my son to be a good man, Be in fighting shape again, Help as many people as I can become safer in their every-day lives.

What’s one of your missions?

Here is where you can start training yourself to shoot and move. This is how you can start learning how to bust off the X in a fight.
