In this episode I do three gun reviews: Ruger LCR 9, Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Pro, and Sccy CPX2. All of them surprised me, but most of them not the way I wanted. Here’s what I found:

Ruger LCR 9mm

  • Good
    • 9mm Ammo
    • Super Light Weight
    • Fire with or without moon clips
  • Bad
    • No Steel Ammo
    • Couple Ounces Heavier then 38 Spl Version
    • Recoils more then a 38
    • Trigger pull is okay, not as good as the 38 version
    • Reliability when hand loading, light hammer strikes if rounds not pushed in all the way
  • Ugly
    • Trigger Bites my Finger
    • Sights I Can’t Use
    • Accuracy I can’t duplicate
    • Really Depressed

Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Pro

  • Good
    • Functions like the regular gun
    • Takes the same mags
    • A little better trigger then normal gun
    • Love the rear sight
    • Little more velocity
    • Better swing weight with longer barrel
  • Bad
    • Front fiber optic sight
    • More Recoil
    • More Cost
    • Internal safety locking mechanism standard
  • Ugly
    • Considered Gaming gun by Smith

Sccy CPX-2

  • Good
    • Price
    • Mag finger extension and flat come standard
    • Warranty best in the business
    • Reliability ran without any problems
  • Bad
    • Double Action Trigger everyone seems to hate, but was manageable for me
    • Sights could be better, front site was big in rear notch
    • Accuracy seemed okay when the shooter did their job
  • Ugly
    • Ouch on Recoil Impulse
    • Finger Grooves, if you don’t fit perfectly don’t get this gun
    • Smooth action like a $300 gun

  1. I wonder why your M&P Pro came with the internal lock (IL). S&W doesn’t even show a SKU that includes the IL nor mag safety. My Pro does have the hole for the IL but is filled with a plug. Maybe you got one made up with a standard M&P frame?

I agree with you about the sights. That being the case, I chose to put a set of Dawson’s on it with the front sight being .100″ wide. BTW, you shot mine at your Dallas/Argyle class in October.

    1. I remember loving the sights on your gun. I was so confused shooting this one. I’ll have to get Dawson sights for my M&P. Thanks for the hint.

You’re right. The frame has the hole and everything for the disable safety but it’s just a plug no locking mechanism.
