Happy Memorial Day

I hope you are enjoying a BBQ with friends or have enjoyed your three-day weekend.  I just wanted to ask you to give a moment of prayer and thought to those who are no longer with us, and include those who have not gone down in combat.

One of my best friends died a couple years ago outside of combat.  He was a Buena Park Police Officer named Dan Ackerman.  We trained for years together in the gym and on the range.  We went through the same police academy, worked as volunteers together and worked to become cops together.  He was a good man, father, husband, patriot, warrior, and great friend.  He died of some kind of aneurysm while doing a PT Test for SWAT.  Being a member of SWAT was he his life-long dream and he was able to live it for over a year.  No he wasn’t fat or out of shape.  In fact among our close group of friends he was the one we thought would die last of old age or physical problems.  We thought he might be the first to die charging into a room to save others.  If someone needed help he would just go. That was just the kind of man he was.

Dan’s Funeral

So remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice even in stupid ways.  And know that most of them would have given the same thing for the security of this nation and in the protection of the innocent.

Stay Safe,

Ben
