Personal space is something we should all work to keep.  Not only does it make you more comfortable, but safer.

During this podcast we talk about keeping that personal space, how much space do you need, and how to keep that personal space for your own self defense.

Show Outline:

  • How Much Space
    • One and a half arms lengths.  The idea is to make someone take a step to touch you.  This gives you time to react
    • From a possible bad guy, get as much space as possible.
  • Tips on keeping personal space
    • Pay Attention to people around you
    • Move
      • Change the amount of space
      • Walk away
      • Make an excuse to leave
      • Let others go first
      • In crowds or lines start talking to people, they will move back to a normal talking distance
    •  Ask someone to give you more space
    • Use voice commands and demand they get back
    • Put things between you and them
    • Ask for Help
    • Call for help
    • Threaten someone to get them to step back
    • Create space physically
    • At first it’s tuff to keep personal space, but after a little practice it becomes normal.
