Know Your Neighbors

Do you know your neighbors?  It’s easy, or is it?  If you are like me, your life is super busy.  I go to work, come home, spend some time with the family and then work on this web site (it’s my hobby).  I see my neighbors from time to time, but normally I just wave and say hi.  I think I’m the only one, everyone else is quiet.

Knowing your neighbors is one of the best things you can do to keep your home safe and improve your life.  If your friends lived next door and all around you, do you think they would help you if there was a break-in? Or if some one was trying to steal your car? Or if your family needed help while you where gone?  Wouldn’t it be nice to have a close friend next door?

I think you can see why it would be good to have friends as neighbors.  I’m currently working on getting to know my neighbors.  I’ve been trying to do more than just say hello.  I also used the excuse of National Night Out to have a BBQ.  I just invited other friends from church.  I met a couple of my neighbors and have been talking to them since.  So, make an excuse, invite your neighbors over and find out which ones you like and hang out with them more.  If you are worried that your neighbors might not be the best of people, have the BBQ in the front yard (that’s what I did).

I know it sounds simple, but how many of us actually know our neighbors?  I didn’t do this post to try and insult anyone, I just want to see a return of the small towns of old where everyone knew everyone.  I think this will make life better for everyone and the world a better place.  I know, sometimes I can get overly optimistic, but those that think they can change the world just might.  Or so I hear.  I’m just trying to make your life safer and better.

Stay Safe,

Ben
