Cut up your credit cards.  Can you do it?  Do you think you should?  If you keep any balance on your credit cards you should!  You need to get rid of credit card debt.  It’s a cancer eating away at you.  It’s creating a financial burden that will destroy everything in your life.

From any point of view, debt will eat you alive!  The bible talks more about money then any other subject, even love!  Why?  Because it effects every part of our lives more then anything else.

If you have credit card debt it will way on you.  You think about it following you until you die.  Some people try to say they have an “acceptable” level of credit card debt.  There is no such thing.  If you have a balance on a card you are paying interest.  That interest will mean you are paying for that money you borrowed for the rest of your life.

If you have a balance that means you are spending more money then you make.  That’s the cancer part.  Every month you get a little further behind.  Every statement gets a little bigger.  At first you don’t notice it, but it continues to grow.  Soon it’s a monster in the closet that you burry hoping no one will find.  But sooner or later it will find you.

You run into your credit limit and then you start shuffling bills from one card to the other.  It takes thought and time.  Then it starts consuming you as things start to bounce.  You lose hope your money goes further out of your control.  You try to hide it from people, but you can’t.  People find out.  Things get reposed, your credit score is gone, and you start losing your friends.

You start losing your friends because you are hiding things from them.  You don’t want to be around them because you don’t want them to know.  They don’t understand because you won’t talk to them.  The same thing happens to your family, and the people at work.

The cancer eats away everything.  It takes your money, your things, your friends, your family, and eventually your health.

Stress has the greatest effect on our health, and losing everything is stressful.  So in the end you can lose everything.  Does that sound like cancer?  If you need some more convincing check out what Jack Spirko has to say about it in this Podcast.

If you have had enough and want out, get mad, and get motivated.  You can do it.  Cut up the cards and systematically get rid of the debt.  It will go away a little at a time but it takes work.  When you are ready check Dave Ramsey and his Financial Peace University.  It’s the best $100 you could spend.

Stay Safe,

Ben

  1. Excellent post. For over 6 years my family and I have lived without using credit. The only credit card I have is an AMEX because my employer mandates it. I have to use it for travel expenses. I only carry 5 pieces of plastic in my wallet. 1. Driver license, 2. Visa Debit Card, 3. AMEX, 4. CHL license, 5. AAA Card. That's it. And I live a good enough lifestyle with just those. Cut them up, now!
